Approach

Growing up as a daughter of immigrants and first generation South Asian-American, I have always had an innate curiosity about the many layers within a person and the communities surrounding us. As a clinical psychologist, I have the privilege of further deepening my understanding of how these layers influence our lives, our choices, and our well being. As a trained classical dancer, I have experienced the power of storytelling through the arts, and as a member of a dance company participated in the intricacies of creating large scale productions.

Through all these personal, professional, and artistic journeys, one constant has remained: my passion for sharing and understanding the human experience, and a belief that the stories we tell have the power to connect us more profoundly with one another and to ourselves. It is with this spirit that I approach my work as a Psychological Consultant for media productions.

With my experience of over a decade listening to stories and guiding change, I approach a storyline, characters, and creative process the same way I approach my clients: with an understanding that this experience is sacred, that the best work happens through collaboration, and that we have the ability to unlock great power within us by celebrating our own and one another’s stories.

Services

As a Psychological Consultant, I help individuals and organizations in the entertainment industry deepen their understanding of human behavior, emotions, and motivation, as well as mental health, treatment, and wellness, as it pertains to their creative work. In my role, I:

  • assist in creating a robust profile of, or backstory into, characters and narratives

  • inform and guide about psychological themes and issues

  • provide feedback on responsible, accurate, and realistic portrayal of mental health and treatment

  • coach through blocks or challenges that may arise when creating deeply personal work

  • conduct workshops and presentations on wellness, mental health, and related themes

  • contribute on-camera expert commentary and content

  • create, implement, and evaluate wellness programming and support infrastructure for organizations

I am open to consulting for any length of time that best suits the needs of a production and am available in person in the Los Angeles area, or globally via phone, email, and video conferencing.
